On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at 10:00 am, in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel-President of the University of Zakho, Assistant Professor Dr. Diyar A. Saed-Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Kamaran Ibrahim Khalil Mishakhti-Head of Kurdish Department, Mr. Mazhare Khaliqi-President of Kurdish Culture Institute in Erbil, Ms. Buhar Ali- Director of Kurdish Culture Institute in Dohuk, lecturers, students, and media, the Faculty of Humanities in collaboration with Kurdish Culture Institute, organized a festival and seminar at the Hall of Khalil Khayali-the University of Zakho. In the beginning, in an outstanding ceremony, an exhibition entitled (Books, Photographs, and CDs of Modern and Folklore Singers). Then at 11:00 am, a seminar on (Co-Existence in Kurdistan) was conducted by Mr. Saed Khodida-Lecturer at Dohuk University. In his seminar, he talked deeply about social cohesion in the Kurdistan region and the situation of minorities living in the region. After that, Mr. Mazhare Khaliqi - President of Kurdish Culture Institute in Erbil and a famous Kurdish singer discussed the duties and activities of the institute, then shed light on the culture and folklore of Kurds in the four parts of Kurdistan. After the two seminars, the door of discussion was opened so that the attendee share their views on the topics discussed. Likewise, a documentary film about social cohesion between different ethnics in Kurdistan was screened in a very high quality. At the end of the activity, both sides (The University of Zakho and Kurdish Culture Institute) expressed their happiness for organizing such event and hoped for further future collaborations, and wished that this activity to be organized in everywhere, not only in universities.
